At the heart of the Maison Hermès Dosan Park in Seoul, the Atelier Hermès is an exhibition space committed to the promotion of Korean and international contemporary art.

Viewed from the outside, the Maison Hermès in Seoul appears as a cube covered in a facade of glass, whose golden and copper tints fluctuate according to shifts in the daylight. Opened in 2006, this building designed by the French agency RDAI has become a landmark of the Gangnam neighbourhood. It centres on an atrium that recalls the inner courtyards of traditional Korean homes, and which offers a unique volume that lends itself to the most audacious forms of contemporary art.

Ever since it opened its doors, the gallery has hosted experimental propositions, with numerous installations drawing on cutting-edge technologies. Since 2008, the Atelier Hermès has been overseen by the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès and helmed by a series of widely acclaimed Korean curators: Sung Wong Kim, Manu Park, Jee Sook Beck, Kim Yunkyoung, and Soyeon Ahn. Across their respective tenures, they have helped to shape the identity of the Atelier Hermès, bolstering its international reach while also maintaining close engagement with the local artistic scene.
