Dominique Kippelen works with space in a practice that blends drawing, sculpture and installation and which draws on the locales that she traverses and the encounters she has there. Whether turned, sanded, splintered or charred, wood is her medium of choice; here, it dialogues with crystal and glass. Jamila Wallentin meanwhile explores the origins of forms, paying close attention to the memory of gestures. She works particularly with textiles, glass and natural materials, with her research drawing on the vernacular techniques and forms of knowledge she studied through her travels.

From one work to the next, an intimate and shifting cartography emerges. The materials become charged with memory: the memory of landscapes traversed, techniques passed down, and others encountered. Without seeking to recount a particular journey, “La mémoire des routes” gathers the traces of voyages and invites each visitor, in turn, to follow the paths they reveal.
