In the heart of the vibrant Ginza district in Tokyo, Le Forum offers visitors a chance to escape the intensity of the city and enjoy a moment of reflection through contemporary art. The Foundation’s exhibition space is open to the public and dedicated to contemporary art. It is housed on the 8th floor of the Maison Hermès Ginza, where a unique light infuses it with a timeless atmosphere that lends itself to contemplation.

Le Forum
The Foundation’s exhibition space in Tokyo
Designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano, the Maison Hermès building in Tokyo is a landmark of the Ginza district thanks to its vast facade of glass bricks, whose transparency sparks the curiosity of passers-by. With a space dedicated to contemporary art incorporated into the project from the design stage, the building opened in 2001. When the Foundation was created in 2008, Le Forum became its Tokyo exhibition space.
Overseen by curator Reiko Setsuda, Le Forum hosts exhibitions specifically designed for the space. Setsuda pursues a programme that is international in scope, and seeks to promote cultural dialogue between artists from different geographies and scenes. Through both experimental and sensory approaches, the contemporary issues facing our world are explored by invited artists from one project to the next. A number of exhibitions have thus opened a space of reflection on our relationships with time and nature.
Since 2018, in the spirit of the interdisciplinary and transversal perspective at the heart of her project, Reiko Setsuda has regularly invited guests to Le Forum to co-curate exhibitions, think collaboratively and experiment with new approaches. Gaël Charbau (France), Guillaume Désanges (France), Mathieu Copeland (Great Britain), Joël Riff (France), Keren Detton (France) and Tomoya Iwata (Japan) have taken part in these projects, which are emblematic of the collective intelligence prized by Setsuda and the Foundation alike.
For over 20 years now, Le Forum has embodied the values of the Foundation and the maison Hermès, and today stands as a space that Reiko Setsuda describes as “a laboratory, a cabinet of curiosities, hugely subjective and overwhelmingly poetic, where the artwork is presented not as a decorative cut flower, but as a living shoot, nourished by the viewer’s gaze, and growing before our eyes.”
