Since 2006 the Robot Club has promoted access to the ever-expanding field of IT and hi-tech skills through a unique, creative focus. Pupils are trained to use IT, electronics and communication tools through the creation of robots – currently the object of a widespread craze in Korea.
The club was established by the Aloysius Technical High School, one of a group of schools founded by the not-for-profit association Boys Town to provide material, psychological, social and intellectual support for young orphans aged between 3 and 18.
The aim of the association is to teach participants autonomy and self-determination, and to provide specially-adapted training to help them into work and towards greater social integration. The Robot Club is a key element in this mission.
Through the Club, young participants learn to assemble different types of robot, meet professionals from the hi-tech sector, and visit factory sites. Club members also develop robots of their own, competing each year in the national and international robot Olympiads. The Robot Club encourages training and creativity for the hi-tech sector, echoing the Hermès Foundation's commitment to the promotion of new skills, and knowledge-sharing.
