Promoting education, autonomy and self-determination
The humanist values of the house of Hermès have been expressed throughout its history: numerous young people have been helped to train for their future careers. This commitment to help people reach their full potential through the acquisition of expert skills is central to the tradition of artisanship. Humanitarian aid for education and training is essential in countries where many children leave school early, or have no access to education of any kind. The Foundation's activities in this area are designed to help the adults of tomorrow acquire the personal and professional skills they need to lead independent lives. The Fondation d’entreprise Hermès provides funding for recognised international bodies and proven, less high-profile organisations offering ingenious solutions for children with no other hope of attending school. Support is specifically targeted at programmes extending over a period of several years.
