Highlighting craft skills and expertise
Reflecting the values and activities of the house of Hermès, the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès has chosen to highlight traditional craft skills as one of its four core missions.
Hermès's commitment to preserve and uphold its artisans' expertise, and their pursuit of excellence, guarantees the quality of every object produced in its workshops.
The Foundation focuses on hand-made objects for decoration or everyday use. These craft skills form an important part of the intangible heritage of mankind, handed down over generations yet adapted to new uses and innovative, state-of-the-art design. In the context of contemporary society, certain traditional skills present a strikingly modern approach, resonating closely with the concept of sustainable development, which is fast becoming a key issue for the future.

The Fondation d'entreprise Hermès focuses on three key activities in this area: restoration projects, support for exhibitions of exceptional craft objects, and initiatives to raise public awareness of manual craft skills and business development issues in the craft sector.
